6SELINSGROVE – A Selinsgrove man has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl, who got pregnant from the assault. The News Item reports 27-year-old Dustin Gearhart entered his guilty plea in Northumberland County Court on Friday and will be sentenced on a later date. Gearhart was charged by Coal Township police with sexually assaulting the girl after the two went for a ride on April 3, 2014. DNA testing was ordered and it was determined Gearhart was the father of the baby. He faces state prison time when he is sentenced. (Ali Stevens) Follow

Sexual assault investigation in Snyder County
MIDDLEBURG – One man is jailed after a sexual assault that reportedly took place on Monday in Middlecreek Township, Snyder County. Middleburg police say they were called to White Top Road around 9 p.m. for a report of a sexual assault at a nearby cabin. Police say Clyde Burgit sexually assaulted a 19-year-old woman at the cabin. Burgit was arrested and arraigned before District Judge Lori Hackenberg on charges of aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and harassment. He was sent to the Snyder County Prison on $10,000 bail. (Ali Stevens) Follow

Female student attacked on college campus
SELINSGROVE – A female college student was the victim of an attempted sexual assault Sunday night. Susquehanna University reports a student was walking on campus between 12:30a.m and 1:00a.m when she was approached by an unknown male who attempted to fondle her. In a notification and advisory sent to students electronically early Sunday morning, the university says the student ran from the scene and was not injured in the incident. The man is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall wearing a gray t-shirt and black pants.
